While I have been struggling with the idea of stepping out on faith and allowing God to use me to sing as a soloist, I had the privilege of winning the 7th annual SGN Fan Fest Talent Contest, July 29th at the River of Life Tabernacle in Smyrna, Tennessee. One of the judges was the lead singer for the Imperials , Shannon Smith. I have spent time with some premier groups in the music industry over the years, but the Imperials are in a class of their own. They show real interest in my ministry. These guys, each of them I might add, took time to talk with me and sincerely encourage me. They were very approachable and down to earth. When I sang, they all stood and listened intently and gave me sincere advice to help me on my presentation. As busy as these guys are, it meant a lot that they would take the time to encourage the new guy.
